After completing my PhD in developmental biology, I joined the group to explore the rapidly evolving field of extracellular vesicles and to gain hands-on experience with the lab’s advanced techniques. I’m particularly interested in their potential application in innovative therapeutic strategies. Outside the lab, I enjoy playing board games, discovering new places and cuisines, and spending time outdoors.

Hello, my name is Görkem. I am from Turkey, and I come from a background of Molecular Biology and Genetics, now conducting my masters in the field of Molecular Biotechnology. My hobbies outside of my education consists of music and airsoft.

I am particularly interested in cell biology and molecular processes that decide the cells' fate during tissue development and differentiation, as well as the practical application of this knowledge in fields such as tissue engineering. What truly drives me in research, aside from pure scientific curiosity, is the eventual perspective of 'bench to bedside' translation. Outside of science I have a passion for martial arts, especially karate kyokushin, which I have been practicing for 13 years. For 5 years now, I have also been teaching children and beginners the ways of karate as an instructor's assistant.

My academic interests include CRISPR-Cas9, prions and long non-coding RNA. Outside of my studies I'm keen on astrophysics, a Formula 1 fan and a math rock listener.
